H&MV Solution

  • Project Management and full detail design of the grid connection for the 3 Data Centres
  • Developed a temporary supply of 10 MVA within 10 months at 11 kV to ensure fastest connection time
  • Installation and commissioning of 26 cubicles of ABB Unigear 11 kV switchgear complete with Comms 600 IEC 61850 control system per site
  • Project programme delivered on target and in line with the client’s expectations.

Project Scope

  • As Principal Contractor, responsible for the project management of the civil and electrical design and construction of 3 Data Centres
  • The speed of connection was a priority, so the Data Centre could become operational; Through liaising with the utility provider H&MV developed a temporary connection for 10 MVA at 11 kV within 10 months
  • Daily tool box talks, weekly progress and safety meetings, issue and risk management along with regular status reporting
  • As part of the design H&MV developed the site wide SLD / Load flow HV system details
  • Prepared the final design report and received approval from Eskom on the self–build / contestable elements
  • Delivered the Architectural-Civil-Structural-Electrical design elements for the HV system
  • Adherence to all the client’s procedures and protocols regarding safety and confidentiality
  • Liaison with the client, client owner’s engineer, local authorities and utilities
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of all HV equipment
  • Produce a complete set of civil and electrical as-built drawings and safety handover file
