Job Title: Intermediate Civil Estimator

Reporting to: Civil Estimating Manager

Since its inception, H&MV has proudly grown to become one of the top specialists in HV Turnkey projects, with offices in Ireland, the UK, Europe, Asia and South Africa. Due to recent expansion at H&MV Engineering an opportunity now exists for a Intermediate Civil Estimator to join our professional team at our Limerick, Cork or Dublin Offices.

 

Specific Requirements:

  • Review RFQ’s when received to understand the scope so the tender can enter a Go/No go process with senior management.
  • Line up/make contact with contractors to price the civil elements of the work these can be region specific depend on the tender location.
  • Complete a take off from the drawings provided in order to develop an in house BOQ.
  • Compose and send out requests for quotation for the supply of material and subcontract packages this will aid the estimator when building a price in house to compare with sub-contract prices being received.
  • Take part in design review meetings in order to value engineering option for the Tender.
  • Travel to site visits as required by the tender process.
  • Review the employer requirements for the tender to ensure all information is captured and included in the offer.
  • Review of received quotes for technical compliance and cost comparison to ensure most cost effective technically compliant quote is used.
  • Identify and cost any potential value engineering options – deviations from scope which may offer cost savings to the project.
  • Liaise with engineering department and electrical estimator to correctly understand cable & equipment sizing for correct duct sizes and foundation plinths.
  • Work with the project planner to complete a tender programme for the civil works.
  • Review prelims for construction period with operation team prior to bid being submitted.
  • Organise and handover secured projects to the Operation team if successful in the tender process.
  • Participate in pre and post bid meetings as required with client.

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • Degree or specific trade qualified
  • Construction experience
  • IT Literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Familiar with Auto Cad.
  • Motivated self-starter with the determination and drive to succeed
  • Attention to detail
  • Keen interest in learning & professional development
