H&MV Solution

  • Design and build of the 2 NIE brick built 33 kV Substations and 17 km of 33 kV connecting cable route which was delivered on time and to budget
  • H&MV are NERS accredited with Lloyds register to act as an ICP (Independent Connection Provider) in Northern Ireland
  • H&MV’s experience and existing relationships with NIE led to the timely development of the project in line with NIE’s functional requirements
  • Additionally, H&MV were engaged by BIOSAR the Solar Park EPC to commission the solar farms, therefore had a holistic view of the project

Project Scope

  • Civil and electrical design of 33 kV substation building and 33 kV grid cable which formed the contestable grid connection
  • H&MV were responsible for liaising with the local councils, utility and public in relation to the 17 km cable route
  • Daily toolbox talks, weekly progress and safety meetings, issue and risk management along with regular status reporting
  • Development of all Construction Management Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Sheets (ITP’s)
  • Construction of switchgear landing pad and perimeter path at the Substations
  • Installation and commission of small power and lighting within substation building
  • Excavation of cable trench and construction of joint bays along the 33 kV cable route to NIE standards
  • Installation of control and protection cable in the NIE substation
  • Pre-commissioning and commissioning of the 33 kV Switchgear to ensure timely energisation
