Client’s Chalenge

  • Highly respected client required a refurbishment of an existing station at 300 kV
  • Snow and Norwegian winter conditions present challenges
  • Outage planning was a priority to minimise disruption

H&MV Sollution

  • H&MV project managed the design and construction of the 300 kV station refurbishment, which included a new building for the new control systems, cable ducting and OHL diversion works
  • A full 3D model was prepared for the station as part of the design process

Technical Information

  • H&MV constructed a new building to house the new control system, and new cable ducts from the new control building to the 300 kV switchgear. The 300 kV, 66 kV and 24 kV equipment required replacement
  • Responsible for issuing the Integrated Test Plans (ITPs ), Construction Management Plans, Quality Plans, Safety Management Plan and Temporary Works Register
  • Daily tool box talks, weekly progress and safety meetings, issue and risk management along with monthly status reporting
  • Full civil design of the Control Room and electrical layout of the substation
  • Install cable precast concrete channels and associated ducting
  • Replacement of foundations in existing live substations under outages
  • New Control System for entire station
  • New 300 kV circuit breakers, current transformers and voltage transformers were installed
  • 300 kV OHL diversion works were necessary for the new extension to the substation
  • 3D Modelling of entire station assisted with design interface and project planning
