Project Scope

  • H&MV were responsible for the design and build of the extension to the Garvagh 110 kV Substation.
  • This comprised of a new 5 bay 110 kV GIS Station, a 3 bay 38 kV AIS Station, installation of a 63 MVA power transformer and a 200 Amp Arc suppression coil
  • Delivered successfully in line with EirGrid and ESB functional specifications

Technical Information

  • As principal contractor (PSCS) H&MV project managed the design and construction of a new 110 kV GIS substation and 38 kV AIS Switchyard
  • Daily toolbox talks, weekly progress and safety meetings, issue and risk management along with regular status reporting
  • 110 kV GIS building civil design, construction and fit-out of ABB GIS Switchgear
  • Design and construction of cable trenches and ducting which contains all control, protection
    cabling
  • Electrical design and installation of a new 110 kV 5 bay GIS double busbar switchgear
  • Design and installation of a new 110 / 38 kV, 63 MVA power transformer and 200 Amp Arc suppression coil and 3 no. 38 kV AIS bays and substation earth grid
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of all HV equipment
  • Produce a complete set of civil and electrical as-built drawings and Safety Handover file
