John Bowen – Chairman

John R Bowen is a Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in leading and managing businesses in Ireland and the UK.  Currently Principal of BowenConsult, he fills roles as mentor, advisor, advocate, consultant and non-executive Chairman for a variety of companies and organisations.  He is also an accredited Mediator.

He was Chairman and CEO of the Bowen Group, one of Ireland’s leading building and civil engineering contractors up to 2011. He oversaw the growth of the business from revenues of c.€30M to some €300M and was a finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year programme in 2004.

His earlier career included working with a firm of consulting engineers, management consulting with one of the major international names, as well as two separate periods in building contracting and/or property development in the UK.

He holds a Civil Engineering degree from UCC and a Master in Business Administration from Warwick Business School.  He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and is also a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in London.

 

Peter Kavanagh – Non-Executive Director

Peter is a recognised expert in the renewables industry having previously been managing director of Wind Prospect Ireland where he remains a non-executive director. He is a council member of the Irish Wind Energy Association and represents the Irish Solar Energy Association on the Distribution Code Review Panel.  Peter holds a degree in electrical engineering from UCD with postgraduate qualifications in project management & law (TCD) and finance (ACCA & DCU).

 

Tom Ryan BBS DPA FCA – Finance Director

Tom has over 20 years’ experience working in the electrical contracting business having spent over 14 years with Kirby Group Engineering as their Finance Director and subsequently Business Development Director. Tom has also worked as a consultant to a variety of industries including waste to energy and mechanical contracting. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PWC in 1988 and worked in the aviation industry for over 7 years. He holds an honours degree in business from UL and a post graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from UCD and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
